Published by Author in category Computers | Leave a Comment

World of Warcraft is one of the most demanded games of modernity. Millions of people all over the world love this game and have active subscriptions, which mean that they spend most of their time in front of their computers, playing this game and communicating with people from all over the world. The concept of the game appeared at the turn of centuries. People were ready to play something new and improved. It was understandable that it was time to use Internet for the development of computer games. Computers had already been developed enough and people could work on the creation of new games, if they had enough skills for that. That was how the age of computer games began and the first game that was presented to the public at large was Warcraft I from the very famous computer game company Blizzard Entertainment. When we say the first game, we do not literally mean that the game was the first computer game that had ever been released. Warcraft I became the first large-scale computer game, which could be played by up to ten people simultaneously. Fans of computer games found the way to interconnect their computers and play together with their neighbors and just people from their area. People were creating local area networks and enjoyed playing Warcraft. Nowadays, LANs seem to be very old-fashioned ways of connecting computers to play computer games, but at that time, it was an achievement, which was incredible. Ten years later, computer development reached the top of the progress. Computers could be found in the every second house of the globe, because they were affordable, if not to say cheap. People were using computers as entertainment stations. They listened to the music and downloaded the albums of their favorite groups immediately after their official release. They watched movies and downloaded videos, which could not be gotten before. They were playing computer games and they communicated with people from all corners of the globe. The development of technologies led to the appearance of the brand new computer game, called World of Warcraft. The game presented the brand new genre of MMORPG, which was the enhanced version of role-playing game. The only difference between genres lied in the basis. RPGs were based on the usage of local area networks, which could support not more than 10 people, playing together, whereas MMORPGs were based on the usage of Internet and their servers could support up to several thousand players.

Considering all its achievements and innovations, World of Warcraft went down into the history of computer games as the most developed and thought-out on-line role-playing games of all times. The success of the game can hardly be duplicated, but, who knows, maybe Blizzard will present even more powerful game in the nearest future.
